This course intends to lead students on an already advanced level to even higher perfection in German language. This goal should be attained through reading and listening of texts that are more demanding than we are used to but which are to be found in every?day life in German speaking countries; especially from newspapers, videos, and radio programs from those countries. As my plan sees it, students should subscribe to one class material from Germany, called DEUTSCH PERFEKT that offers a wide variety on at least three different levels. This is a class material that is a periodical and is issued every month. But all other texts will be chosen according to students’ already acquired knowledge and their proficiency in German during my course. We are supposed to ask questions ( have quizzes) once every week when we meet as well as writing a mid?term exam and a final exam. It is important to be active in class sessions and to show there a proficiency in more difficult grammatical structures than students normally are used to as well as to be familiar with speech acts (which I want to teach extensively and systematically). I will emphasize on a good command of spoken German, I especially will have an eye on a correct (and not only fashionable) way of making up sentences. As the student enrollment is not supposed to be higher than 15 for this kind of course, it should be possible that every participant writes a short paper for presentation in class.
